Jake stepped off the elevators and went out of his way to walk past the chief’s office. The lights were on and there was an empty coffee cup on the desk but no signs of the man himself. Over the next couple of hours, he repeated his actions several times, but he was never able to catch the chief at his desk. The CBS crew would be there soon, and Jake made one last attempt to check the chief’s office. As he hobbled down the hall, he heard the chief barking orders from his desk. Jake wasn’t ready to pay the chief a visit, so he made a U-turn and a beeline back to his office to hide out. His plan was to drop in on the chief just before the crew was scheduled to arrive so he could be there when they ambushed him.
